PS: Is there any means to utilise weather satellites to estimate wind patterns, turbulence etc over wind farms in comparison with adjacent areas, and thereby to create a of modelling for the problem you mentioned??
That’s exactly what I’m using (NASA MERRA https://gmao.gsfc.nasa.gov/research/merra/intro.php), but this only gives me some mean ambient wind speed. The thing is that not all of the turbines in the farm experience the same wind speed because of disturbances caused by the other turbines. The total array losses are in the range of 5–20 %, and I think I can just use those percentages.

ReplyDeleteIs there any comparisons to wind tunnel models in minor scale?
